Tesamorelin Peptide Therapy

You've probably heard people talking about peptides for fat loss and anti-aging. There's a lot of buzz around these treatments, and honestly, some of it is just hype. But tesamorelin? This one actually has some real science behind it.

At AlphaElite Health in Beverly Hills, we've watched patients deal with stubborn belly fat that won't budge no matter how clean they eat or how much they work out. It's frustrating.  And the thing is, sometimes it's not about willpower or discipline. Your body's growth hormone production drops as you age, and that messes with how you store fat, especially around your midsection.

That's where tesamorelin comes in.

What Is Tesamorelin?

Tesamorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog. I know that sounds complicated, but here's what it actually does: it tells your pituitary gland to make more growth hormone naturally.

The FDA approved it back in 2010, originally for people with HIV who were dealing with lipodystrophy (basically abnormal fat distribution). But doctors noticed something interesting. It was really good at reducing visceral fat, that deep belly fat that wraps around your organs.

Unlike some peptides that are still experimental, tesamorelin has been studied pretty extensively. We're talking actual clinical trials with real data, not just anecdotal stories from bodybuilding forums.

Why Belly Fat Is Different

Not all fat is created equal. The fat you can pinch? That's subcutaneous fat, and while it's not great in excess, it's not the worst thing.

Visceral fat is the problem. It sits deep in your abdomen around your liver, pancreas, and intestines. And it's metabolically active, meaning it pumps out inflammatory compounds that increase your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other health issues.

How Tesamorelin Works

Tesamorelin is injected subcutaneously, usually once daily. The typical dose is 2mg, but can vary person to person. It stimulates your pituitary gland to release growth hormone, which then gets converted to IGF-1 in your liver.

Higher growth hormone levels help your body:

Break down visceral fat more efficiently. Growth hormone activates an enzyme called hormone-sensitive lipase that helps release stored fat to be burned for energy.

Build lean muscle tissue. More muscle means a higher metabolic rate, so you're burning more calories even at rest.

Improve metabolic health. Better insulin sensitivity, improved cholesterol profiles, and reduced inflammation.

Who Shouldn't Use Tesamorelin

There are some people who shouldn't use this peptide:

  • Anyone with active cancer or a history of certain cancers. Growth hormone can potentially stimulate cell growth, which is obviously not what you want with cancer cells.

  • People with diabetic retinopathy or severe uncontrolled diabetes.

  • Pregnant or nursing women.

  • If you have pituitary disorders or have had recent surgery, we need to evaluate your situation carefully.

This is why we do comprehensive bloodwork and medical history before starting anyone on tesamorelin at AlphaElite Health. It's not something you order online and start injecting without medical supervision.

What The Process Looks Like

If you're interested in tesamorelin therapy, here's what happens:

You come in for a consultation where we talk about your health history, your goals, and what's been frustrating you about your current situation.

We run comprehensive bloodwork. If tesamorelin is appropriate for you, we teach you how to inject it properly (it's subcutaneous, so it's pretty easy), discuss the protocol, and set up follow-up appointments.

We monitor your progress with regular check-ins and repeat labs to make sure everything is moving in the right direction.
